The Model System is the Education Department of the Southwest Region Conference’s network of eight schools — a collaborative effort to reimagine what Adventist education can be.
Through a unique partnership between the Southwest Region Conference and the Bainum Family Foundation, this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to design and implement an ideal educational model aiming to strengthen quality, sustainability, and impact across our schools.
We call it the “Model System” because this work is meant to reach beyond the Southwest Region Conference. It’s about creating a blueprint for the future of Adventist education — a model of excellence and equity that others can learn from and build upon.
It provides consistent expectations, aligned resources, and professional supports to help every school thrive and every student flourish.
Our goal is to create a unified, joyful school system where educators are supported, students are inspired, and excellence is visible in every classroom — all while celebrating the unique character of every school community. Ultimately, we aim create a model of Adventist education that inspires others far beyond our region.
The Model System is a collaborative effort led by the Southwest Region Conference (SWRC) of Seventh-day Adventists and the Bainum Family Foundation (BFF). SWRC and BFF are working in partnership to design, resource, and implement this system — with BFF serving as a funder and thought partner and SWRC leading system design and implementation.
Teachers, administrators, students, and families are at the heart of the Model System. Their experiences, insights, and leadership shape the system’s design and evolution. Together, we are building a model rooted in shared vision and collective impact.
The Model System is designed to make teachers feel deeply supported and meaningful. They will be part of a vibrant network of peers who learn, create, and problem-solve together. Teachers will have access to strong instructional resources, shared curriculum tools, and professional learning that helps them grow in their craft. Centralized operations will ease the daily burdens that distract from teaching, freeing educators to focus on what matters most — students. Students will benefit from schools that feel alive with curiosity, joy, and belonging. Each day is designed to spark wonder, build confidence, and help every child discover their purpose and their connection to their Creator. You’ll see it in real, everyday moments — students building things with their hands, solving problems together, explaining what they learned, and showing steady growth over time. Ultimately, we believe this kind of learning shapes them to become confident, compassionate young people who know how to think, how to lead, and how to build happy, purposeful lives.
The Model System growth strategy has been mapped over a three-year period:
Year 1: Discovery & Design (School Year 2025–26): Vision launch and discovery of school and system needs. Prioritizing the development of a vibrant learning framework and cultivating relationships with the school leaders and educators.
Year 2: Implementation (School Year 2026–27): Instructional coaching and intentional professional development to equip teachers in a manner that best impacts student experiences and outcomes. Embracing and refining system-level efficiencies to allow educators to focus on student development while creating robust support for a network of aligned schools.
Year 3: Deepening and Scaling (School Year 2027–28): Expansion of enrichment opportunities, evaluation and refinement of system, promotion of family engagement and community partnerships.

We want to see Adventist education thrive. The Model System’s long-term vision is to build an operational model for Adventist education that reliably delivers joyful learning, strong student outcomes, and sustainable school operations. By 2028, we aim to have the model’s proof of concept developed with the goal of inspiring broader transformation across the Adventist school system.
While the Model System creates shared standards and alignment across schools, it also recognizes the importance of each campus’s unique character and community. Schools will continue to express their individual identities and traditions while benefiting from system-wide support, resources, and shared best practices.
It starts with sharing the joy of knowing that God is working through each of us,and that every person has a meaningful role to play in His plan. When we weave that truth into our classrooms, our conversations, and our connections with students, parents, and the broader community, faith becomes something they can see and feel.
By helping students recognize that God is calling them, too, we don’t just spark excitement, we help them find deeper purpose in their learning and in their lives.
We are committed to equity and inclusion by developing culturally responsive curriculum, celebrating diversity, and providing resources for multilingual learners.
Absolutely! Celebrating and appreciating educators is core to the Model System’s culture. Expect ongoing recognition events, appreciation initiatives, and opportunities to celebrate the dedication and impact of our teaching teams throughout the year.
